Wonder Woman // DC

Wonder Woman // DC

Completed: July 2013
Worn to: Anime Expo 2013, San Diego Comic Con 2013

Inspiration

I’m planning on adding more DC characters to my list of costumes, and I couldn’t think of a more iconic character to start with than Wonder Woman! I’ve enjoyed watching the revived popularity of the character and all of her new personifications in comics and videogames (like Injustice). However, my favorite version of the character will always be Lynda Carter’s outfit from the classic TV show. Wonder Woman fighting Nazis in the 1940s?? What’s not to love??

Construction

Ok let’s see – I constructed this costume in a different (IE easier) way than the outfit Lynda Carter wore. Her costume was one piece and constructed in a way similar to old Playboy bunny suits. I made the red corset and blue bottoms separate from one another. The gold details on the bodice are top-stitched onto the red corset. The bottoms are made out of blue spandex with a white star print (not accurate to the original, but a much easier alternative). The gold belt is place over the bottoms and top to create the illusion of a single piece. Her tiara and gauntlets are made out of Worbla.
